Many times dressing for your office holiday party requires an ensemble that will go from work to evening effortlessly. Luckily for many, denim is a perfectly acceptable fabric for their office jobs and thousands of stunning outfits can be developed around a great fitting pair of jeans. Operating by the assumption that you have already heeded my advice on purchasing some jeans for your pear shaped courtesy of Lucky Brand Jeans, a discount from Bebe will help affordably complete the look.
Until December 11, use code “SURPRISE” to get $10 off of $10.01 or more. You can also take advantage of a 15% discount off of a purchase of $100 until December 24 with the code “15OFF100.” The thing about Bebe is their main focus is “sexy fashion” thus making some of their skimpier items not office appropriate as ‘too much skin is an office sin.’ But some items that would work include the Jewel Bib Tunic Top for $69:
The embellished detail will bring the viewers eye upward, while the bubble hem can be adjusted to sit anywhere that is flattering. Since this if for an office party I would layer a tank top underneath (to cover some of the extra skin that shows via the criss cross back) and make sure your bra strap is not sticking out.
Lace is another detail perfect for gussying-up yourself for your office shindig. For $69 the Charming Details Blouse would add cheery flair:
This top would look adorable and would be flattering on pear shaped figures when paired with dark denim or an a line skirt and a bold cinch-waist belt. Plus, the cut of the top is demure enough to be worn to work again and again. However, please leave the head scarf behind as unless you are 3 years old, you will be one dangerously, short fashion step away from looking like the great Bettie Davis in “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane”:
Of course you should compliment any holiday look with some great jewelry from Hurricane by Jane! But I will be addressing that in my next posting.
During the hey-dey of designer denim, Brooke Shields proclaimed that “nothing will come between me and my Calvins.”:
Even though I tried to channel her passion, the designer prices kept me far away from the jean line. However, today may be different as the retailer has extended their big sale to last one more day. That day is now and mere mortals can now save 30%-50% off of everything on the Calvin Klein Site.
With the holiday season kicking off in the next couple of days, my thoughts have turned towards rhinestones, sequins and metallic thread and this adorable cropped metallic cardigan sweater on sale for $47.60 would make an excellent addition to my collection:
This cardigan (please note my refusal to call it a “cardi”) can serve double duty. Not only can it be used as a layering piece over a long sleeved t shirt and jeans combo but it will be a perfect wrap for more elegant holiday attire. Either way, the sweater will add a bit of girth to your upper torso perfect for creating balance for a pear shaped figure.
Another piece that will provide visual interest on your fine upper body is this gorgeously sparkling sequined vest ($68.60):
Personally I would skip the graphic shirt promoting the line as this vest is almost festive enough to stand on its own. Of course your ensemble would be further enhanced by mixing in some jewelry by Hurricane by Jane and my choice for a contemporary accent would be the Moon of Mars Necklace ($77):
Silver and gold intertwine so you can mix and match your favorite holiday jewels and totally pull together the look. If you are interested in this piece from my collection or any other item from Hurricane by Jane L.L.C. feel free to contact me directly at HurricanebyJane@gmail.com and you will not be denied.
Today I want to proclaim my love for boots! Although I have my favorite brand (Frye forever) I often find myself dipping into other options, just for the heck of it. Unfortunately, my love affair with the footwear is often one sided. Being a pear shaped figure, I often have trouble finding tall boots with a shaft circumference that fits and properly closes over my meaty calves. That portion of my body measures a healthy 15.5″ and until recently, I felt a bit like an evil stepsister forcing my foot into the glass boot made for a slim princess.
The task of boot shopping has always been a bit of looking for a needle in a haystack and today I just got pricked in the best way possible! Thanks to Nine West and their current discount code of $20 off of a $75 purchase (plus free online shipping) I would like to introduce you to the 16″ circumference of the Dsouzar Boot ($189):
Not only will the 4″ high heels (with a 1/2″ of platform) make the average girl of 5’4″ model tall, but the boot will easily pull over my full calve.
Boots are one of the most versatile types of foot wear out there. Seriously, you can combine them with your favorite dress, skirt, skinny jeans or leggings or even cropped pants and get a seamless and flawless line. This line is the key to elongating the visual appearance of your pear shaped body and thus giving the extra “umph” needed for balancing out or fabulous figures.
Nothing ushers in the holiday season like the light reflection of sequins. If you are like a magpie and drawn to all things shiny, then the trend of currently wearing sequins during the day must fill your heart with glee. Instyle.com already declared this move as a “New Style Rule” back in 2008, and since then every editor and retailer has embraced the trend.
If you are ready to make the move yourself, what better way to do it then by shopping with a discount code from New York and Company. Coupon code “3886” will save you 30% off of your online order (limited time) and when you spend $65 you will get free shipping.
By pairing this sequined top ($36.95) with a great pair of dark denim or trousers and topped with a fitted blazer, you can easily and respectably shimmer during business hours:
“But wait, there’s more!” If that shirt is not your style, another great option for getting your bling on is this embellished tunic ($29.95):
Although I love this top, I do not think that the stylist needs to channel their inner Coco Chanel and should have heeded her advice“Take one thing off before you leave the house”. The necklace and most of the bracelets must go! There are too many accessories and that distracts from the embellished neckline. Keeping only the black cuff (featured ) and adding a great pair of earrings will complete the look. My suggestion, the Crystal Ship in sterling silver ($41):
Out of all the jewelry I have made for myself, these are the earrings that get the most use as they are big enough to make a statement, neutral because of the teardrop crystals and light enough to wear every day. Combined with any sequined top these earrings will complete the look quite elegantly.
